Quadruple médailles d'or

Four gold medals for our whites

Each year, the wines of Château Lagrézette are particularly rewarded and highly rated in France and internationally. This year, our white wines have particularly stood out: Merveille Blanc 2018 and Pigeonnier Blanc 2018.

They both come from our Rocamadour vineyard. This terroir is ideal for cultivating the Viognier grape variety thanks to its clay-limestone soil.

> Feminalise Wine Competition: a gold medal at Merveille 2018,

> Lyon International Wine Competition: Merveille 2018 wins another Gold medal,

> The International Wine Challenge: awarded two gold medals, one for Pigeonnier blanc 2018, the other once again for Merveille Blanc 2018.

Veraison, where are we at?

Before veraison, the grape goes through different states.

It all starts with flowering. The clusters do not yet exist. They are in the form of flowers.

Once fertilized, they turn into fruit: it is the fruit set.

During mid-July, the bunches of grapes are loaded with sugar and their color asserts itself. This color change is called veraison. You can see it in the photo above, taken by our field teams.

Currently, our vines are 3 weeks ahead of the season. This is due to the favorable temperatures in March and April. Thus, the veraison process is 10% on all of our lands.

It will take 60 days for the berries to mature. And that’s when the harvest begins!

Our history

Alain-Dominique Perrin

Alain Dominique Perrin

With Château Lagrézette, Alain Dominique Perrin was able to combine his love of exceptional refinement with his passion for entrepreneurship and creation. Driven by an extraordinary will, he devoted endless time and energy to bring back this once forgotten castle to its previous beauty, restoring its gardens and reviving its lands. Viticulture on the Lagrézette estate was reborn in 1988, when he called on the renowned oenologist Michel Rolland.

The Malbec grape

TThe Malbec grape has been harvested at Château Lagrézette since the 14th century. Malbec holds no secrets for oenologist Michel Rolland, as he is both the man who shaped the success of Argentinian Malbec and the one who largely contributed to making Lagrézette the world icon of Malbec.

From 1997, Robert Parker rated the Pigeonnier Lagrézette cuvée at 92/100; the following year at 93/100. In 1999, the Pigeonnier Lagrézette reached 94/100, unheard of in this region of France. Regardless of which international wine tasting experts, the ratings continued to improve to reach 97/100 to 98/100, thus allowing all the Lagrézette vintages to be included among an elite circle of the greatest wines in the world. Under the pen of Jancis Robinson, the Viognier outclasses some of the biggest producers and for the second year in a row, the British critic positions the property's rosés, 100% Malbec (Rosé de Julie and Roseberry), at the top of the French rosés. .
